Where can I find academic help?

There are a few different resources for students who require academic help at TRU. If you are a Canadian or permanent resident considering TRU and need some guidance with registration, timetabling, applications, program exploration, or pre-admission advising, the Future Student Advisors are there to help as well as the Qelmúcw (Indigenous) Advisors. Academic Advising is there to help students with a variety of  knowledge to assist with planning your education. Cplul’kw’ten is an inviting Indigenous centre to provide a safe space for all aspects of university life. International Student Advisors provide personal counselling for international students throughout your academic journey.

What is the student union, and what services does it offer?

The Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union is a membership based organization that all students are members of. This means that all students have access to the services they provide. Community meals, chef’s packages, TRUSU grants, and the health & dental plan are some of the services they provide as a way to make student life easier. Students can participate in the student union through the Board of Directors elected positions or the Student Caucus.

What health and wellness services are available to students?

The Wellness Centre is a safe place for all students to hangout, learn about helpful resources, enjoy a cup of tea, and play games as well as one-on-one health and wellness support. They host wellness workshops and presentations for students around campus. TRU also hosts free fitness classes as a way to make physical activity more accessible to students. There is an on campus medical clinic available to students who are studying on campus.

What is the campus library like and how do I use it effectively?

The campus library is located on the third floor in the House of Learning. It is home to over 250,000 books and has access to many other online resources. The library has a research help desk as well as online research resources to help with citations. Also found on the library website is the booking site for study rooms. The library is also home to the TRU makerspace which is a free resource for students to use for personal and school projects.

Where can I find study spaces on campus?

Study spaces can be found in all buildings on campus depending on your preference. Some areas provide a quieter atmosphere for individual study while others have an atmosphere for conversations and group work. In the warmer months you can even find students studying outside usually in the campus commons.
