Tournament Capital Centre (TCC)

The Tournament Capital Centre (TCC) is located within walking distance from campus and provides opportunities for students to stay active. Although the TCC isn’t part of TRU they do offer discounts for students. The TCC gym offers a discount for current students as a way to stay active, as well as free access to the pools and track. This is great for students as it’s a cheaper way to stay active while being in a convenient location.

Organization

Finding a technique that works for you is extremely important. Staying on top of any assignments or projects due as well as tests and exams is key to avoid cramming and procrastination. Using a physical planner or the calendar app on your phone/laptop is useful to visualize upcoming tasks as when they are due. Colour coding by class or type of assignment is also useful for those who are visual learners. Depending on how you choose to take notes there are other ways to organize those such as colour coded notebooks or folders for separate classes if you choose to write out your notes. If you choose to type your notes, creating individual folders for each class is a good way to separate class work. Making a schedule that works for you and sticking to it helps the learning process. On days where you have less classes, scheduling a few hours to work on homework or study can be beneficial to create consistency.

Important Dates & Deadlines

Keeping on top of any important dates or deadlines is very important when managing your schedule. All important dates are available on the TRU website so making note of these in your calendar is beneficial so you know when the campus will be closed for certain  holidays. Staying on top of when your course assignments are due as well as when tests and quizzes are will ease your stress and help you excel in class.

Campus Resources

TRU has many different resources meant to help students in many ways throughout the semester. Some of the resources students may access include the Wellness Centre, the Medical Centre, Counselling Services, Multi-Faith Chaplaincy, Career and Experiential Learning, Print Services, and more. This is just a list of some of the services TRU has to offer and there are many resources to help in every aspect of university life.

Some other resources that can be used to familiarize yourself with university life are:
