Welcome to a sneak peek into the daily life of a student at Thompson Rivers University (TRU)! Whether you’re considering applying or just curious, this post will walk you through a typical day on campus in beautiful Kamloops, British Columbia. TRU is known for its stunning views, close-knit community, and diverse programs, so let’s dive into what it’s like to be part of this vibrant student body.

Morning Routine: Rise and Shine

7:30 AM
The day starts with a cup of coffee and a scenic view for many TRU students. Living on campus, students can enjoy a quick stroll to classes and enjoy fresh mountain air and panoramic views of the Thompson Valley. If they live off-campus, students may take a bus ride to the university, thanks to Kamloops’ convenient public transportation that connects the city and campus well.

8:30 AM
Time for the first class of the day! TRU offers a variety of courses across disciplines, so depending on the program, students may be heading to a lecture hall, a lab, or even outdoors if they’re in Adventure Studies. Popular study areas include Arts, Sciences, Business, Law, and Nursing, each with distinct facilities that enhance learning.

Mid-Morning: Campus Life and Study Sessions

10:00 AM
After an engaging first class, it’s common for students to gather in the campus’s open spaces. The Old Main building, with its modern, open-concept design, is a popular spot to review notes or study with friends. TRU’s Library, with its quiet study areas, group study rooms, and extensive resources, is a favourite for those looking to get focused.

11:00 AM
A break might also include a quick coffee run to Common Grounds or Starbucks, located on campus. Students often take this time to chat with friends, catch up on news, or attend quick meetings for clubs and societies. TRU’s vibrant student life offers something for everyone, from the AdventureU Outdoor Club to the Multicultural Club, so there’s always something going on!

Lunch Hour: Exploring Campus Eateries

12:00 PM
Lunch is a chance for students to unwind and refuel. Campus eateries offer a range of options, from international cuisine at the U&M Deli to fresh meals at the Scratch Café. Many students enjoy their lunch outside, taking advantage of Kamloops’ mild climate and scenic campus spots. Whether it’s a salad, sushi, or a quick slice of pizza, there’s something for every taste.

Stay tuned for part two!
