Now that we’ve introduced the Future Students Office, it’s time to introduce a team of highly involved current students, the Future Student Ambassadors! This dynamic group of pupils is here to help future students discover all that TRU has to offer by sharing their experiences and journeys. They work with the Future Students Office to promote TRU through on and off campus events, virtual information sessions, high school visits, presentations, open houses, and career and education fairs across British Columbia, Canada and more.

The ambassadors are a welcoming bunch, so never fear to ask them questions! Want to see our Future Student Ambassadors in action? Check out our campus tour here!

No one is against you, everyone there wants you to succeed! So use every resource to its fullest potential because TRU loves helping students fulfill their ambitions.

What's next for you after graduation?

After my BSc I want to apply for the STEM Secondary Teaching program at TRU, to become a teacher!

The beautiful land our city is on; lakes, rivers, hiking/biking paths, and we are very close to an amazing ski hill, Sun Peaks!

Salmon Arm, BCBachelor of Natural Resource Science
Advice you would give a first-year student

Don't be afraid to try new things - it's cliche, but as a first year you are not supposed to have your education path figured out. Take courses that spark your interest and see where your passion takes you!

What's next for you after graduation?

After Graduation, I would like to pursue a career path in some field of natural resource conservation or regenration. I have an affinity for forests and can envision myself working in silviculture or forest conservation.

Favourite thing about Kamloops?

One of my favourite things about Kamloops is the amount of outdoor activities that are within or near the city, such as the numerous lookouts and hiking trails in the area. Kenna Cartwright is one of my favourites to look at nature and see wildlife, along with the TRU Connector right on campus that leads to panoramic view of the river!

Sun Peaks is only an hour away from the city able to fulfill all winter activity desires like skiing and snowboarding, in addition to sporting the beautiful scenery of the Shuswap Highlands.

How do you take your caffeine?

Caffeine consumption is inevitable as a student. My go-to for a boost of energy is some type of coffee, usually a vanilla iced coffee from Tim Hortons, or a Caramel Macchiato or Matcha Latte from Starbucks. My choice between the two is determined by which place has the shortest line!

My TRU must-do is…

Common Grounds Chai Lattes are a must for working on essays and lab write ups.

Attending a Wolfpack is a good way to show support for the student athletes who represent the school and to connect with students who share a passion for sports

I hope to be admitted into medical school to eventually pursue a career as a pediatric oncologist.
